March 3 — “Oh the Places You’ll Go”
BOOKWALK began with a celebration for Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
We gathered for a sloppy joe, chips, and veggie dinner provided and served by P.E.O. Chapter CQ.
We read “Oh the Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss. In the book it talks about making decisions We had to choose a gift without knowing what was in it. We each got a stuffed animal. Then we read “The Tortoise and the Jackrabbit” by Susan Lowell and illustrated by Jim Harris. We all got to take a copy of the book home.
We went in the children’s room and discovered where the different kinds of books were. We found picture books, imaginary books, true books, mystery books, chapter books, cassette books, bilingual Espanol books, and magazines just for kids. In the main library we found the DVD’s, videos, and CD books. Every time we found the books we stamped a letter. Then we had to unscramble the letters to spell BOOKWALK. Then we picked out books to check out and read this week.
The Cat In the Hat showed up with a big balloon bouquet. The Cat gave each of us a balloon to take home. We checked out our books and put them in our new Kinsley Library Humphre the Bookworm bag. We’ll be back next week!
