Ava Howie reads “1000 Books Before Kindergarten”
The Kinsley Library is happy to announce that Ava Howie has met the library goal of reading “1000 Books Before Kindergarten.” She is the daughter of Phillip and ReBecca Howie and sister of Amy.
Ava is 5 years old and her favorite color is pink. She enjoys playing with her unicorns and going to the cabin with her family. Ava likes to watch the movies, Harry and the Hendersons and Little Rascals.
To celebrate her achievement, Ava’s picture has been placed on the wall in the foyer of the library. Library Director Jessica Knoell also presented her with a copy of the book Say Cheese by David Pelham. Ava chose this book for her “trophy” and it holds the record of reaching her goal.
The Howie family is to be commended for encouraging reading even before their children start school. The “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” program is available at the library for any parent that wants to give their child this head start in learning. Parents simply put a check in a box on the bookmark every time they read a book. Now is a good time to start any baby or young child on the program.
