Are there ecological lessons we can learn from indigenous people? Robin Wall Kimmerer thinks so in her book “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants.” Copies of the book are available at the library for you to read before our “Three Sister Potluck and Book Discussion on Sunday, October 1 at 1 p.m. After lunch, Dr. Debra Bolton of the Ohkay Owingeh Nation will speak on indigenous people and their relationship with the natural world. She will lead a discussion that explores how there might be a more positive relationship between people and the environment, and between western scientists and indigenous practices, as outlined in the book.
