Lainey Hobbs Reads “1000 Books Before Kindergarten”
The Kinsley Library is happy to announce that Lainey Hobbs has met the library goal of reading “1000 Books Before Kindergarten”. She is the daughter of Jaimie and Taylor Hobbs and the sister of Rhomie. The whole family is very proud of her.
Lainey is five years old and her favorite animal is a kitty cat. She attends USD 347 preschool, where she enjoys playing on the ipad, drawing, and swinging.
At home, Lainey likes to play with her sister, go to her grandpa’s farm, and play with her uncles, Kam and Kobe. When she grows up she wants to go to the Wildcat school and be a vet.
To celebrate her achievement, Lainey’s picture has been placed on the wall in the foyer of the library. Interim library director Dawn Thorp also presented her with a copy of the book “Bubbly Beautiful Kitty Corn” by Shannon Hale. Lainey chose this book for her “trophy” and it holds the record of reaching her goal.
The Hobbs family is to be commended for encouraging reading even before their children start school. The “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” program is available at the library for any parent that wants to give their child this head start in learning. Parents simply put a check in a box on a bookmark every time they read a book. Now is a good time to start any baby or young child on the program.
